Home Sweet Crete,

Hi I'm Joules a home Ed mum, wife, carer and business woman.
I am here to share our experiences of all that Crete has to offer. In this blog post, I will share our experience and highlight some of the must-visit places and activities in Crete.

Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and the firth largest island in the Mediterranean sea. Crete offers a range of history from the Minoans, Mycenaean civilization, Romans, Byzantine Empire, Andalusian Arabs, Venetian Republic to the Ottoman Empire before becoming a Cretan State in 1898. Crete is a unique island that has many different characters from Mountain ranges, quaint villages, cultural heritage, amazing food (specially their deserts and pastry) to their own poetry and music.

One of the best places we saw was Knossos the Minoan Palace which is located in Heraklion. Where you get to see ancient ruins, paintings and experience some of the best views in Crete. Knossos is dominated by the monumental palace of Minos, the building served as a combination of religious and administrative center rather than a royal residence. The Site was first excavated by Minos Kalokarinos in 1877. The island is rich with fauna and flora there are no animals that are dangerous to humans on the island so you can rest assured your safe. There is a Natural History Museum of Crete who aim to study, protect and promote a diverse range of flora and fauna on the island.

Crete Weather-

The best times to visit Crete for hot weather is between June and September, the hottest month is normally July with temperatures around 32°C. Saying that when we went at the end of October the weather was still around 27°c most days. The only downside to going in October is that a lot of the local shops and tour operators close so you can be very limited on what your can do.

Conclusion: Summarizing our incredible experience in Crete and emphasizing why it is a must-visit holiday destination, offering a combination of stunning landscapes, rich history, warm hospitality, and a range of activities for everyone to enjoy.
